I'm getting back into simpler meals while on a Foodventure isnโt such a bad idea. Because I don't like to cook and cooking doesn't like me, I think
Humboldt Cider Companyโs Cherry Cider is a 7% APV, the cider wasnโt boozy and was refreshing, not tart. This one could sneak up on me.
The restaurant order was a serving of two bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers stuffed with cream cheese. I used to believe jalapeno poppers were supposed to hot but they rarely are. The jalapeno wasnโt too chewy and the bacon fat kept it from being al dente as well. Nothing surprising or exciting about these but they are a substantial appetizer.
Shark Bait tacos required a fork. Made with a healthy helping of cod, with a mango salsa that was more like a slaw, and fried tempura avocado.
Initially, I thought it would be a relatively inexpensive meal because I ordered from the โhappy hourโ menu but it still came in over $20 with a $7 โservice chargeโ which the server explained is the restaurant adding on its own fees for being a restaurant- inflation, rent and the like.
I hate when I see this because it means the restaurant is really charging a fee for being open and having customers. This also signals to me they haven't figured out how to absorb increasing costs without โpass costs on to the customerโ.
The restaurant had some interesting decor that were a hodge podge of mask and what I thought were handmade crafts. I couldnโt really tell but they definitely made me think about how much dust lives on the top shelves.
All in all not a bad place to stop on a road trip.
