Questions from Bioneers conference
Questions often beget questions. And I always have questions ๐๐พโโ๏ธ
Went to the first day of 2023 Bioneers conference in Berkeley. I was inspired by some great conversations I had and came away with so many thoughts about social change, social justice and climate change. As is the case when an idea is sparked, I had more questions than I had answers:
Whatever happened to the green party?
Why are we so divided?
If what brings people together are โBread and butter issuesโ, are we talking about the same ones at the same time?
Why does the America 250โs website have a white family on the front page of the website? 250 year celebration?
Waitโฆ America 250? As in only 250 years, are you sure?
What's the difference between being an activist and being an organizer?
Is there a specific personality defect that makes these women want to reach out to touch my colored braids? Is there science behind it?
How can we have more urban farming?
When did we get so ignorant about food that grows on trees right in our own backyards?
When it comes to changes to our structural systems, are we apathetic or tired?
I have absolutely no answers for any of these questions. I do know that we have such a long way to go. We live in a time when we know the information is there but I don't believe we know what to do with it, how to make it work and how to get out of old habits.
