ICYMI: Headlines and podcasts
I wrote in July 2023 titled “Guilty by complacency”. Yes, I know it’s still spelled incorrectly. Focus, people. The people around you, the people who you share information with, share life with, and do business with should be holding you accountable. There is a shared cost when you don’t. “Loyalty may be the culprit holding people hostage to someone they love dearly for far too long and for the wrong reasons.”
We can make accusations, gossip behind green bubbles of “close friends”, claim victim to someone else’s villain, name call and weaponize twisted facts. But at the end of it all the casualties become the people we love, people who loved us and loss of trust. It’s a hard, jagged little pill to swallow and a mountain of a lesson to learn.

Foodventure:
The Restaurant at North Block Hotel 6757 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599
For one of the trips to Yountville, the group was treated to the breakfast menu which is not often open to the public. I will start by saying there is nothing like having fresh fruit with your breakfast. It’s a good jolt to the taste buds that I often only remember when I’m traveling but hardly do at home.
Just a plate of oranges to refresh the palate or the plate of kiwi and berries makes for a refreshing breakfast.
One of the best things about this restaurant is they understand sustainable food practices. Leftovers are not thrown away but rather repurposed for other meals.
Before you think this is gross, think about how most of us actually use serving utensils and how food is prepared.
I’m continuing to state my running joke is avocado toast is the financial ruin of us all because of some article I read years ago. But I make it home when I can as well. Avocado toast with a scrambled egg really is a light filling breakfast item that can be had on the go or to compliment any other breakfast items.
Smashed potatoes. That's all you need to know. Its simple, light crisp on the outside, not too oily. Savory and salty and a compliment to any dish.
Quinoa with Brussel sprouts nimba oysters and butternut squash. I didn’t realize that when you have quinoa and a poached egg you get a nice surprise. It pairs well even though quinoa isn't absorbent for the runny egg but still felt I needed to add the potatoes to this dish.
House made zeppoles. Basically beignets with powdered sugar and Meyer lemon zest.
